Dagnia Cherevichnik is a Latvian painter whose expressive and diverse visual language moves fluently between figurative storytelling and luminous Mediterranean landscapes. She began her formal art education at the Riga Secondary School of Art, where she built a strong foundation in classical techniques, and later completed her higher education at the Latvian Academy of Art, graduating from the Department of Painting in 2001.
Since 1998, she has been actively exhibiting her work, with solo shows in Riga and participation in numerous international group exhibitions and painting contests across Europe, including Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Montenegro, and the UK. Her art has been featured in respected venues such as Museo Alcalá de Guadaíra in Sevilla, the Galería Aragón in Barcelona, and Metanoia Gallery in Paris.
Dagnia’s work often evokes a theatrical interplay of figures and symbols, layered with mythological or poetic undertones. Her paintings capture both inner narratives and external atmospheres, ranging from allegorical compositions to plein-air impressions of Spanish harbors, streets, and landscapes. Whether depicting a moment of musical intimacy or a sun-drenched coastal scene, her brushwork and color palette reveal a vivid emotional sensitivity and a strong connection to place.
Though based in Latvia, Dagnia returns regularly to Spain, where the clarity of light, the richness of colour, and the rhythm of daily life continue to stir her artistic imagination.
