Call for International Artists

Join Our Exclusive Residency Program at Aurum Altea Art Gallery & Studio

Are you a professional artist seeking a serene and inspiring environment to create high-quality artwork while immersing yourself in the rich Mediterranean culture? Aurum Altea Art Gallery & Studio offers a unique opportunity through our Artistic Residency Program, inviting a select group of talented artists from around the world to work, exhibit, and engage in an artistic exchange like no other.
This residency is designed as a competitive program, and only the most suitable candidates, whose work aligns with our vision and themes, will be selected.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for professional artists who create high-quality, meaningful work in any medium that reflects one or both of the following themes:

  • Mediterranean Culture – We are particularly interested in artworks that explore the beauty, history, and daily life of the Mediterranean region. This can include interpretations of local landscapes, traditions, architecture, the sea, or the spirit of Mediterranean living. We value art that celebrates the rich cultural heritage and contemporary realities of the Mediterranean.
  • Esoteric and Energetic Themes – We also seek artists whose work delves into the spiritual, symbolic, or metaphysical realms. This includes explorations of energy, symbolism, the subconscious mind, mysticism, or ancient wisdom. We encourage you to interpret these themes in ways that resonate with your artistic vision.

Your previous work does not have to exclusively focus on these themes, but during the residency, we expect you to create a piece of art that aligns with them.

Studio Facilities and Equipment:

Artists selected for this residency will have access to our dynamic and creative studio space, designed to inspire and support the production of high-quality artworks. The studio offers individual workspaces with various lighting solutions and ample storage, allowing artists to fully immerse themselves in their projects.

Our studio is equipped with a range of specialized tools and equipment, including a guillotine paper cutter, a paper creasing machine, a scanner, and an artist projector for detailed work. Artists also have access to a 3D printer, cutting plotter, heat press, and various hand tools to accommodate diverse creative processes. For those working in more traditional mediums, we provide easels and camera stands.

The studio has a library stocked with art books and resources to fuel your inspiration, as well as complimentary access to coffee and tea throughout the day. The space is slightly connected to our gallery, creating a vibrant atmosphere where art is continuously exhibited and shared.

We aim to foster a creative and stimulating environment where artists can explore new techniques and produce exceptional work.

Residency Terms and Expectations:

As part of this residency program, artists are expected to:

  1. Submit a High-Quality Artwork Proposal: When applying, you must provide a photograph and description of one existing artwork that you propose as compensation for your time in the studio. This work, or an equivalent piece created during your residency, will be accepted as payment for your residency.
  2. Create an Equivalent Artwork in Residence: During your stay, you will create a new artwork that aligns with the gallery’s themes of Mediterranean culture or esoteric/energetic concepts. The work must match the quality and professional standard of the piece you submitted in your application.
  3. Complete and Submit the Artwork: Upon completion, you will sign a handover act, officially transferring the artwork to the gallery’s permanent collection. This artwork will be exhibited in our gallery, gaining exposure to both local and international audiences.

Application and Selection Process:

The residency is highly competitive, and we will only select artists who demonstrate exceptional skill and a clear vision that aligns with our thematic focus. The selection will be based on the quality of the artist’s previous work, the proposed artwork, and the project’s alignment with our themes.
